HEI Schools, Helsinki International Schools Group, is an early education growth start-up company I founded together with University of Helsinki and three co-founders in 2015. The aim was to developed a model of Finnish early education to serve global interest for the Finnish education. The company has been ranked among top young innovative companies by Business Finland. Teollisuussijoitus (Finnish Industrial Fund) became one its main owners in 2021. The company has currently agreements of over 30 early education institutions in six continents. The first HEI Kindergarten was opened in China in 2017. I served as the Founding CEO 2015-2017 until I was invited to join the parliament. In March 2022 I joined the Board of Directors.
I worked in a three-member team known as three musketeers since 2001 to bring the experience of international education to divided educational reality of post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina. We – David Sutcliffe, Antonin Besse and myself – became founders of the United World College in Mostar that opened in 2006. As part of our work we had three tasks: 1) set up model United World Colleges school in Mostar with partner IB schools in Sarajevo, Banja Luka and the region 2) set up teacher training centre 3) influence education reform on pre-university level. The work continues under the foundation Education in Action that I have been chairing since 2016. UWC Mostar
